Supervisor Joe Simitian’s last Board meeting was Dec. 10.

Simitian championed initiatives that strengthened and supported Santa Clara County’s diverse community and populations in the areas of health and education, criminal justice, housing, transparency, privacy, accessibility and civil liberties, among others.

He served Santa Clara County for a total of 16 years: an initial term in the late 90s and another three consecutive terms that just came to an end.
