County of Santa Clara and Partners Call for Stronger Collective Action Against Aircraft Lead Emissions

The Environmental Protection Agency on Wednesday announced plans to evaluate endangerment related to lead emissions from piston-engine aircraft

WHAT:

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on Wednesday announced that it will begin evaluating a ban on leaded aviation fuel, which is responsible for widespread lead contamination in communities such as those surrounding Reid-Hillview Airport in East San José.  County of Santa Clara leaders and community partners, who have been advocating for this action for decades, will respond to this milestone EPA announcement and the path toward a nationwide ban on leaded aviation fuel.
