County of Santa Clara to Host 25th Annual Domestic Violence Conference

WHAT:

The Santa Clara County Domestic Violence Council and Office of Women’s Policy will present its 25th Annual Domestic Violence Conference, The Movement Continues: Journey to Safety, Justice and Healing. This year, the conference curriculum examines the history of the domestic violence movement as they commemorate 25 years of collaboration, awareness and education to prevent domestic violence in Santa Clara County.

Pre-sale tickets are on sale online at https://dvconference2018.eventbrite.com until Friday, September 28, 2018. Cost is $125. Tickets are available at the door for $150 per person.

WHY:

For 25 years, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the County of Santa Clara has coordinated an annual conference that gathers a wide range of interdisciplinary professionals who serve families impacted by domestic violence. Participants include hundreds of law enforcement, probation, criminal and civil attorneys, court staff, judges, mental health professionals, victim advocates, pre-trial services, child welfare professionals, educators and healthcare professionals. Mental health professionals, attorneys and nurses attending the entire conference may qualify for Continuing Education Credits.

About the Domestic Violence Council

The County of Santa Clara Domestic Violence Council (DVC) was established as a County Commission in 1991 to act in an advisory capacity to the Board of Supervisors to assure safety and restoration for victims of domestic violence, cessation of the violence, and accountability for batterers. The Council makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors regarding policies, programs and legislation and promotes effective prevention, intervention and treatment techniques to reduce domestic violence in our community.
