County Celebrates 100 Years of Santa Clara County Parklands

The County is commemorating 100 years of Santa Clara County parklands. 

The first purchase of parklands by the County was in the western hills near Cupertino in 1924. This 400-acre parcel of land was the beginning of Stevens Creek County Park, the first park in the County Parks system.  In 1956, the Santa Clara County Parks Department was established to manage the County Park system which now encompasses 28 parks and 52,000 acres.
