SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIF.— The County of Santa Clara Department of Tax and Collections (DTAC) this week announced the availability of the annual secured Fiscal Year 2023-2024 property tax bills. These bills can be conveniently accessed, viewed, printed, and paid online at www.sccdtac.org. For taxpayers who have opted for electronic copies, bills will be delivered to the email address on file as of October 2, 2023. For all other taxpayers, hard-copy bills will be delivered by the United States Postal Service (USPS) throughout the month of October.

Paperless Billing
Property owners are encouraged to consider going paperless. It is an environmentally friendly and secure way to access essential property tax-related information, including assessed property values, tax bills, and payment options. To opt for paperless billing, please visit https://www.sccassessor.org/optin.

The Assessor’s Office Has Moved Next Door to DTAC

The Office of the Assessor joins DTAC in the move and is now located at 130 W. Tasman Dr., San José, CA 95134. Most assessment business can be conducted through online services, email or phone. Find more information at www.sccassessor.org. If an in-person visit is required, the new facility makes it simple to take care of assessment and tax payment tasks in one location, with easy access to ample free parking and public transportation.

Payment Information

The first installment of the property taxes is due November 1 and becomes delinquent at 5 p.m. on Monday, December 11, 2023. Please note that California Revenue and Taxation Code Section 2610.5 does not relieve a property owner of the responsibility of making timely payments due to failure to receive a tax bill.

Online Payments

Online payments can be via the website at SCC Tax (sccgov.org). Payments can be made using the online Electronic Check option (eCheck) with no additional charge. This service uses the taxpayers’ Checking Account. If paying by credit or with debit card, a convenience fee is charged by the payment processing company, not the County, and must be paid by the taxpayer.

Mailed Payments
Use the new blue envelope (formerly a lilac envelope) and installment coupon to track the payment as it makes its way through the USPS until it reaches its final destination:

                  Department of Tax and Collections
                  110 West Tasman Drive
                  San José, CA  95134-1700

If the payment is not mailed before December 8, 2023, it is recommended to send the payment by certified mail to ensure it is postmarked by December 11, 2023 to avoid penalties. The USPS postmark MUST be December 11, 2023, or earlier, to avoid penalties. Please retain proof of the postmark in case payment arrives after the due date, as USPS may not postmark mail on the same day it's deposited.

Drop Box Payments

DTAC offers a secure 24-hour drop box located to the right of the front entrance at its new location 110 W. Tasman Dr., San José, CA 95134.

Partial Payments
Property owners may take advantage of the partial payment program and make multiple partial payments on this installment. Penalties will only apply to the unpaid portion of the tax after the payment deadline of December 11, 2023.
