Santa Clara County Assessor Releases Annual Report
Amidst a declining commercial property market, strong residential values contributed to the Assessment Roll increase of $35.6 billion, ensuring stable property tax funding for schools and local government
SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIF. — The Santa Clara County Assessor’s Office published the 2024 Assessor's Annual Report today. The report summarizes important property assessment information for policymakers, public agency finance directors, leaders in the business and real estate communities, members of the media, and property owners.
“In addition to the accurate production of the annual Assessment Roll, our mission is to provide current assessment-related information to the public and governmental agencies, in a timely and responsive way,” said Assessor Larry Stone. “Since its initial publication in 1999, both citizens and policymakers have come to rely on the information provided in the Assessor’s Annual Report.”
The report provides a snapshot of the market value of transactions between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023, and contains detailed information about Santa Clara County’s 2024-2025 Assessment Roll. Examples include a list of the Top Ten taxpayers for Santa Clara County, the assessment impact of changes in ownership, and the net assessment growth of each city in Santa Clara County. The report also details the added assessed value for major construction projects and the restoration of value for more than 7,500 properties that in 2023 had been placed on a Proposition 8 temporary decline in assessed value.
The 44-page report includes extensive assessment data for each of the County’s 15 cities and unincorporated areas. The expanded digital version contains data which summarizes the assessed value by property type segmented by city and school district.
